Which way?

Take a look at the above picture.

Now, before you do anything else, which way is this girl turning? Think about your first reaction, before you read any further.

If she was turning anti-clockwise, your left brain hemisphere is dominant.
If she was turning clockwise, your right brain hemisphere is dominant.
Both are equally valid.

SuperDrewby originally posted this and the meaning, taken from Funderstanding, shows the following…

Left Brain Right Brain
Logical
Sequential
Rational
Analytical
Objective
Looks at parts
Random
Intuitive
Holistic
Synthesizing
Subjective
Looks at wholes

It’s very true… I’m very analytical, objective and sequential. When I saw the pic above, I immediately thought that she was going anti-clockwise.

What was your first answer? Let’s get some stats here :-)

Hmmm… definitely anti clockwise for me, and I fit the logical/rational thing. I stared and stared and couldn’t get her to move clockwise at all! Weird :)

  2. Campbell says

    Clockwise for me!

  3. jayke says

When I first saw this she was moving clockwise then moved anti clockwise and the more I loked at it she moved clockwise then for a half move anti the straight back to clockwise and so on . What does that mean then .Am I super human a real thinking person ?????

  4. drew - superdrewby says

    right brain clockwise!

  5. drunk_junkie says

Yeah, she was totally going clockwise for me :)

  6. Sunshine says

Clockwise for me first but if I scroll down and only get to see her legs, I start seeing anti-clockwise. Okay, I know, that means I’m plain neurotic. Damn. :P

    Some stats.

  8. skywardxplosion says

Gus… she changes direction when you move up and come back down.
She moved in both directions for me. I even got her to do it on demand.

  9. jennigan says

    Clockwise! Don’t see how she’s going anti-clockwise at all…

  10. emarosan says

I see clockwise, and have had a hell of a time trying to see it the other way for the past few weeks.

The problem is, I’m not most of the Right Brains stuff. I’m certainly not random. I’m more of the left side stuff: logical, rational, analytical.

Maybe it’s the actor/musician side in me winning over my scientist/engineer side.

    *shrugs*

  11. loux2 says

How is she going anything other than clockwise!
I can’t get my mind to change it…hm

(x2 - the same for my bf)

  12. jayke says

Am I going mental/mad . Each time I look at this “thing” she changes direction constantly . HELP >

If you look closely at the position of the feet - and the location/direction of the heels/toes on both feet you can come to a fixed conclusion.

From the waist down the silhouette is facing away whilst the upper torso is facing towards the viewer.

You are waaaay too analytical. You obviously saw her anti-clockwise on first glance, didn’t you? ;-)

  14. ninglun says

Clockwise for me. But she did “change direction” towards the end of my viewing…

  15. diane says

Definitely anti-clockwise first…and I did see her change direction later. The characteristics for left brain seem overall the best fit. Librarian/teachers need to possess some capacity for logic!

  16. Kate says

Clockwise - until I started to read the text and then she changed to anti-clockwise.

  17. Tuna Kang says

Wow.. that was interesting, because I thought clockwise first, and I really can’t see how it can move anti-clockwise…

  18. Cheri says

I see it moving clockwise, then if I concentrate on the shadow foot I see it moving counter-clockwise. If I focus on the pointed foot I can sometimes see it clockwise again.

I wonder how gender effects the ability to go back and forth.

  19. Anonymous says

It took several minutes and eventually, covering half of her body with my hand before I was able to see her going counter-clockwise.

Still, I think I’m a slightly more analytical person than I am creative.
